Most golf courses have a hook; some sort of angle that defines the experience and helps the course market itself. Bandon Dunes is this revolutionary cliff top links. The Old Course is the birthplace of golf. I’m not sure Ghost Creek has a hook beyond just being a balanced, challenging course that’s just great in every way. Any list of the great list of great holes at Ghost Creek could easily have 18 entries. These holes are frequently strategic, occasionally tight and always interesting. It’s just all around really, ridiculously good golf course. Pretty good hook, if you ask me.

When to Play

Ghost Creek is open year round, weather permitting.

North Plains – located is just outside of Portland, OR – tends to get a lot of rain from about mid-October through May or even June. July through mid-October rare is rare. Temperatures are usually mild in fall, winter and spring. Summers are hot but comfortable, due to the low humidity.

Ghost Creek is not the best draining course in the region, so aim to play during the dry summer months. If you can find a good deal in the winter, and it hasn’t rained in a few weeks, that might be worth your time as well. Overall, your best bet for playing Ghost Creek is July through October, during the dry season.
