Water and memorable holes abound at Portland’s standout muni

“Muni” conveys a certain image. The Great Blue course at Heron Lakes – an oasis in an industrial section of Portland near the Columbia River – is the antithesis of that image. It’s a hard, well-designed course that’ll will leave you smiling no matter how much it beats you up. Water is everywhere – it’s built on and around wetlands – and you’re going to find some of it. No matter. These holes are all interesting and some are genuinely fantastic. The closing stretch from 14 onwards is as good as it gets. This is one of the most underrated courses in the region, and absolutely worth your time.

When to Play
Heron Lakes is open year round, however, it’s not a course you want to play when it has been wet.
