Links courses rightfully get a lot of love, in America and around the world. For some reason, heathland tracks – think of them as a links course’s inland cousin – get far less attention. It’s hard to even find them in America. Which is why Bandon Crossings should be celebrated (and played!). It’s a legit heathland course, not routed through the sandy soils west of London (where heathland courses reign supreme) but through the thick pines of Oregon. Though not affiliated with the nearby Bandon Dunes courses, Bandon Crossings is a fun play and well worth your time.

When to Play
Bandon Crossings is open year around.
Temperatures on the Oregon Coast are relatively consistent year round, with an average high of 67 degrees in August and September and 54 degrees in December and January. Bandon – like most of Western Oregon – is exceedingly wet from mid-fall through spring. It barely rains in summer.
If you’re looking to avoid rain, June through September is your best bet. But the Oregon Coast is fickle; you can have days in January as nicer than days in July. Really, any time you can get to Bandon Crossings is a great time to play.

North Bend, Eugene and Medford are smaller airports (especially North Bend) with limited flights. Portland is a major international airport – and the best airport in America! – that is an easy, albeit long, drive from Bandon.
