There is not a better setting in golf, and few better courses.

The first time I ever saw the Grand Canyon in person, I was speechless. Of course I’d seen it in images hundreds of times, but pictures can only convey so much. When you step out and see it in person, stretching to infinity, it just something else –– something deeply special. The same is true with Royal County Down. As beautiful as photos look, in person it’s just unreal, out of this world. There may not be a more beautiful spot in this world where you can play golf. And – incredibly – the course is as good as the setting is beautiful. Hard, yes, but also good. This is one of the top handful of golf courses in the world for a reason.
Expert Reviews
There are not many places I have played golf where my head is up looking around at the scenery above more than looking down at the ball and ahead at the course. Banff Springs in the Canadian Rockies is one I can remember and Royal County Down is another as you walk along almost in a dream soaking up the setting you find yourself in.
