Mussenden at Castlerock Golf Club

Castlerock, Northern Ireland

This gem of links is only “hidden” because of how brightly its neighbors shine.

Is there a better stretch of golf anywhere in the world than the strip of coast between Castlerock and Portrush? Within about 6 miles, you have 3 of the top links in the world. And while the Dunluce course at Portrush, a consensus top 15 course in the world, and dune-laden Portstewart grab most of the headlines (and tourists), its Castlerock’s Mussendeen very much stands on its own. It’s an incredibly challenging, enjoyable and scenic course – pure and classic links golf. It’s also a good bit cheaper that its more known neighbors. Basically, it’s everything you’d want in a classic hidden gem.
